Born in Green Bay and raised in Pewaukee, Wisconsin, Jeffrey Donald Flowers grew up believing that clear communication opens doors. That conviction has guided a two-decade career devoted to helping children unlock the power of reading and writing.
 

From Classroom Teacher to Educational Specialist

Jeffrey earned his degree in elementary education and quickly became known for turning struggling readers into confident, curious learners and strong readers into academic leaders. His classrooms—from rural and urban U.S. schools to bustling academies in Asia and beyond—became living laboratories where he refined science-based, systematic phonics techniques long before they were fashionable.
 

A Career Shaped by Global Classrooms

Jeffrey’s first posting outside the USA took him to Cairo, where he taught at MISR Language Schools and—at the personal request of the first family—became the private tutor to the grandchildren of President Hosni Mubarak. That experience cemented his reputation as a trusted, results-driven educator for high-profile families. 
 

From Egypt he moved to The Bahamas, then Shanghai, leading classrooms at Yew Chung International School and founding his own boutique academy, Green Gardens Prep Shanghai, where he served as CEO and curriculum-development head and lead teacher. These diverse posts allowed him to pilot research-based phonics, drama-integrated literacy, and inquiry-driven writing programs with learners from more than 40 nationalities. 
 

Creator of Phonics Garden

Determined to give every child an engaging path to fluency, Jeffrey distilled his best practices into Phonics Garden, a 80-book decodable reading series widely praised for its vibrant stories, explicit skill progression, and classroom-ready teacher guides. Today, the program is licensed on three continents and has helped more than 40,000 young readers take their first independent steps into print.
 

Founding the New Green Gardens Prep

Green Gardens Prep Bangkok is the next evolution of Jeffrey’s vision: a boutique language school in Bangkok that merges research-driven instruction with joyful, hands-on learning. Every lesson, worksheet, and AI-enhanced support tool used in our classrooms carries Jeffrey’s signature blend of rigor, creativity, and heart.
